2002-10-30 - 12:36 p.m. Nobody updated last night! Argh. I hate when that happens. Anyhoo, not much happening in my stratosphere. Checked out The Ring the other day. Creepy stuff. Scary stuff. Cheesy stuff. I was happy. The whole thing looked like it was shot for its longer, more profitable existence as a DVD, though, with all these extreme close-ups. Maybe that's just the budget constraints making their presence known. (It's not a bad marketing move, after all. This is the type of flick that, years from now, kids are going to hear about from their older siblings when they reach a certain age. "What's that movie about?" "A video that kills whoever watches it." "Can I watch it?" "Are you sure you want to?" "Yes.") See it on the big screen with a nice sound system. I don't think I would have jumped as much watching it at home. Ah, what else. Tonight I start tutoring again. Four kids simultaneously this time. Two need help in world history; all of em need mathematics tutoring. We'll see how that goes. I think I'm going to miss the Ghostly International Devil's Night shindig up in Dumbo tonight. But I'd like to go just to say that I celebrated Devil's Night in Brooklyn. Speaking of Devil's Night, the Detroit-themed bar Motor City on the Lower East actually has some cool artifacts. Some of them are a stretch. Like what's that Woodward Dream Cruise no parking sign doing there? That thing doesn't even dip its toe south of 8 Mile. But they do have that rad orange "This House is Being Watched" (for Devil's Night arson attempts, natch) sign that Colin had. previous next
