2002-10-28 - 6:16 p.m. Man, I wish I could think to write these things in a better frame of mind (rather than at work). Kevin seems to have a good thing going with the DPL (or maybe it's the Purdee-Kresge Library?). At any rate, like Kevin, I also made my baby a fall mix tape. Though I possess not the strength of library that my brother does, I feel I did a pretty good job. I still have "decent component stereo" on my longshot list of Things I Want, and that would open up my vinyl collection to the humiliation of mixtapery. (Half those records know they're good for one track only, maybe three, but they just don't want to be reduced. I know how they feel.) Not very surprisingly we both used "The Street Parade" by the Clash, which, if you know us, is probably the most obvious mix-tape song for us right now. Bah. I speak of Clash and mix tapes and I don't buy records much. The other day I did buy Live Albom II, the late-80s collection of columns by Mitch Albom, and was praised by the proprietor of 7th Ave. Books for my selection. He was wondering when somebody was gonna snatch up that thing. OK, I'm going home and I'm going to the library to return the overdue book I just finished and then maybe if the record store's open I'll hop over there. Wait, it's Monday. D'oh. Weekend went off just as planned. The party at Shelby's was cool. Staten Island provided some nice, cheap velours and a powder blue sportcoat for me. Sopranos was Sopranos, goodtimes all around. First time I'd seen that show broadcast. previous next
