2002-09-11 - 5:21 p.m.

I just wrote an entry and it got lost. Something about Nine Eleven and how it doesn't seem like a year. Then I started thinking about all the crazy hedonistic things that started happening in October (actually not that much, but it seemed so subversive during that solemn time) and that month seems just about exactly 11 months away. So good. Time has not really sped up on me. Last September 11 I was at work, stuck because of the subways shutting down. I snuck in the bathroom while the towers were burning out the window -- not to piss but to cry. That didn't happen this year. So good.

I'm filled with a renewed sense of civic duty during this anniversary of a tragic date. I just called in for jury duty as instructed, and the courts need me. Hell yes.

Here's to scores more September Elevenths. Not of the 2001 variety, of course, but bring 'em.
