Man, fuck this diary. It sucks now, doesn't it? Oh well. Summer's good, summer's here, shit is fun. Not that it hadn't been already, but you know. Last weekend there was no beach, but there was Summer Stage. Princess Superstar, N.E.R.D. Lisa's b-day and hot-ass weather.

Princess Superstar got booed repeatedly. Sorry, Davidde. I would say "well, her stage show really didn't translate to a large venue that well," but that wouldn't change the fact that she has no flow and can't rhyme live without slowing down the track noticeably. Of course, her tracks are still hot (maybe not all of them, as she claims), but that doesn't matter when you can't hear them from the back bleachers. So maybe since it was a free show people shouldn't have been booing, but a capella (effectively) rap from someone who can't is not that easy to sit through without at least cringing a whole lot.

In summary, here's what's good about P.S.: 1) Astute lyrics. 2) Sense of humor. 3) Hot tracks. Here's what was lost in translation in a large outdoor venue: 1) Astute lyrics. 2) Sense of humor. 3) Hot tracks.

Oh well. The rest of the show was better, but by that time patience was in short supply. The Asian dude in the Neptunes wasn't there, but, er, yeah. Whatever. N.E.R.D.'s backing band was Steely Dan for people who had never heard Steely Dan.

Funniest homeless guy award goes to the shirtless, hot-pants-wearing dude with pencil-eraser nipples, plumber's butt and a penchant for amalgamating beer asses into one cup and then drinking it while the bleacher crowd let out a collective "Ewww...." Good times.

One thing I've been noticing that both the Fashion Mullet and the Fauxhawk (alternately the SoHawk -- SoHo Mohawk) have been revived for this summer. (One could argue that they're actually closely related. OK, fine, they are.) FashMen are really out of ideas when they're reviving bad ones from only a year ago.
