I bent my monthly MetroCard yesterday. This sucks, but at least there's a return policy. Thank God for serial numbers. But now I'm left in limbo and I don't know what to get: a bunch of tokens? A weekly card for the interim? Who knows. All I know is that the Business Reply Mail envelope will be in the mail later today, and we'll just have to play the waiting game from then.

A few of us checked out Fred at the Read on Williamsburg on Friday. He and Juan put on a great show, and I think Nami was at least somewhat impressed. Which is good, because she's never even been to Ann Arbor. I like the production on the Saturday Looks Good to Me record, which I enjoyed before at my parents' house last time I was there. But today I got to listen to it on headphones, and it's even cooler-sounding right up in your eardrum. It's like listening to CBS-FM in the shower, which I do fairly regularly.

After the show Friday we ended up at Donna's house, right by the diner by the Metropolitan/Grand stop. Chris and Sue rode home with Nami and me -- it's rare to get a good group together for a ride back to Park Slope late at night.

Saturday was a great touristy day. I need to do that every once in a while. How touristy? Record shopping on St. Marks. Clothes shopping in SoHo. Dinner in Little Italy. Fun.

And of course now I have the Mr. Show DVDs, so I won't be leaving the house much. The audio commentaries totally suck as actual commentaries on what's going on in the show. But their tangential conversations are engrossing enough to make it worth listening to for its own merits, especially after having seen every episode about 10 times already.

But I guess I'll be leaving the house enough what with this season's Celebrate Brooklyn in the park. A ten-minute walk from my apartment on successive Fridays in July (the 12th and the 19th, I think) will bring me to free shows by Yo La Tengo and Talib Kweli. I am spoilt.
